SURPRISE! In the wake of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's departure from hosting The Golden Globes, Ricky Gervais has decided he'd like another shot at it for the fourth time. The realisation must have suddenly hit him when he was standing onstage at the Globes last year essentially repeating Fey and Poehler's opening monologue.
A statement released by NBC Entertainment Chairman, Robert Greenblatt, reads: "We’re excited to have Ricky Gervais back to host the most enjoyable awards show of the season in his own inimitable way. Disarming and surprising, Ricky is ready to honor - and send up - the best work of the year in film and television. Fasten your seat belts." Because we're hurtling back to 2012!
President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Lorenzo Soria, added: "Ricky Gervais left us with a lasting impression and we are thrilled to have him back in our show as we honor the best in film and television. His off-the-cuff wit and quirky charm will surely have the room and audiences around the world at the edge of their seats."
Speaking of the honour, Gervais took to twitter with the following post.
It's a good job I'm drunk. Otherwise the thought of hosting The Golden Globes again would seem like a real pain in the arse.
