The filmmakers have gone back to the comic book version for inspiration
'Deadpool 3' is currently in production, and fans will already be aware that the Marvel super-anti-hero sequel is set to feature another well-known character.
Wolverine will be joining the wisecracking mutant, played by Ryan Reynolds, in the new film and now both Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have shared the first image from the series.
It sees Wolverine in a yellow and black outfit, which was his outfit in the original comic book but which Jackman did not wear in any of the X-Men or Wolverine-based standlone films.
Jackman shared the image of Wolverine and Deadpool (which you can see below) to his Instagram story with the caption: 'Don't blink' and a gif of both comic book characters.
Details of 'Deadpool 3''s plot are scant, but we do know that there will be some interesting new actors in the sequel - including Matthew Macfayden and Emma Corrin, who played Diana in 'The Crown'.
Jennifer Garner will also appear as 'Elektra', a role she first played in the 2003 'Daredevil' and last played in her own 2005 spinoff.
'Deadpool 3' arrives in cinemas in May 2024.
