Reports this weekend suggest that Quentin Tarantino is seeking Will Smith for his new project, Django Unchained.

According to Variety, The story follows a slave named Django who teams with German bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (apparently set to be played by Christoph Waltz... who denied all knowledge when I asked him) on a mission to rescue his wife from a sadistic plantation owner. Samuel L Jackson is also being mooted by many outlets for a role.

Smith hasn't signed on, and has a couple of projects on the go - he's currently shoot Men in Black 3 - while he's also attached to a science fiction film from M. Night Shyamalan. But it would surely make sense for him to work with Tarantino instead of banging out a Shyamalan stinker, or doing another sequel. Snap this one up, Big Willy.
