Don't they know 'A Christmas Carol' peaked with 'A Muppets Christmas Carol' and can't be topped?
Although the sheer folly of trying to think you can top 'A Muppets Christmas Carol' hasn't stopped people, it now looks like another reimagining of the classic Charles Dickens novel is on the way.
The directors of 'Daddy's Home', Sean Anders and John Morris, are set to begin work on the new take with none other than Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds in the lead roles.
There's no word yet on who's playing Scrooge, or specifically what role either actor is playing. However, both Ferrell and Reynolds have some familiarity with making Christmas-themed movies. Ferrell, of course, starred in the modern classic, 'Elf', with Zooey Deschanel and James Caan and directed by future Disney overlord Jon Favreau.
Reynolds, meanwhile, had 'Just Friends' with Amy Smart and Anna Faris, about a high-flying music executive returns to his home town at Christmas and reconnects with his high school crush, played by Smart.
Apart from 'Muppets Christmas Carol', 'A Christmas Carol' by Charles Dickens has been reimagined a few times already. Bill Murray's 1985 classic, 'Scrooged', saw the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge played by a TV executive trying to stage 'A Christmas Carol', and featured Bill Murray getting beaten up repeatedly by Carol Kane.
Let's watch that scene, because it's so good.
