It's scarce a horror movie these days that doesn't (well, if it manages to make a few bucks, that is) end up being stretched out into a franchise. What are we on now, Paranormal Activity 12? Oh you may laugh, but we'll get there soon.
Now, as per Deadline, it seems Sinister starrer Ethan Hawke will get the prequel treatment. With Hawke in the lead role, Sinister told the tale of a crime reporter who uncovers a series of mysterious home videos that subsequently send his family into one hell of a supernatural nightmare. Have you seen it? Did you wet yourself with fear? As for plot details and casting news on the sequel, we'll have to wait and see. Something tells us Hawke won't be returning.
This sequel news comes as no surprise, considering that while it was made for a paltry $3 million, it managed to rake in $87 million worldwide. Nothing to be sniffed at. Blumhouse productions will get the ball rolling on this, with the hopes that Sinister's success will follow in the same steps as their successful Insidious and Paranormal Activity franchises.
