So, it seems as though the rumours were true, and the future of Warner Bros' Justice League movie is indeed in the hands of Henry Cavill's Man Of Steel. No pressure.
DC Comics' answer to The Avengers has been touted for cinematic release numerous times over the past few years, and now we're finally getting some more information about the future of the project courtesy of the studio's own Jeff Robinov.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about Man of Steel, the Warner Bros Pictures Group President had this to say: "It’s setting the tone for what the movies are going to be like going forward In that, it’s definitely a first step. I think you’ll see that, going forward, anything can live in this world”. Intriguing
“Batman was deliberately and smartly positioned as a stand-alone" he continued, "the world they lived in was very isolated without any knowledge of any other superheroes. What Zack [Snyder] and Chris [Nolan] have done with this film is allow you to really introduce other characters into the same world." So a bit like what Marvel did with Iron Man then, yeah?
He also revealed that Nolan will not be involved with the Justice League movie, but added that we might not be waiting too long to find out who will be. "We’ll announce something in the next several weeks that will hopefully position the DC characters and the movies we’re going to be making" he said.
Now I don't know about you, but I'm not so sure a Justice League movie will be able to compete with the monster of a franchise that is The Avengers. Marvel might just have pipped DC to the post on this one... Thoughts?
Man of Steel hits Irish cinemas on June 14th 2013.
