'Toy Story 4' is about to hit cinemas and here's what's to come after.

In case you didn't know, Disney Pixar are taking a break from sequels for a while.

The next film to hit the big screen from Disney Pixar is 'Toy Story 4' this Friday (21 June). After that, the animation studio will be focussing on original projects.

Aside from the 'Toy Story' franchise, Pixar has also produced sequels to 'Cars', 'The Incredibles' and 'Finding Nemo'; and 'Monsters Inc' prequel 'Monsters University.'

But some of the studio's best films have been original, standalone projects. Consider 'Walle', 'Up', 'Ratatouille' and 'Inside Out'.

Well for the next few years, they'll be focussed on the latter category - with two heading to cinemas next year.

2020 will see the release of 'Onward' and 'Soul'.

The trailer for the former - which you can watch below - went live at the end of May.

Set in a suburban magical world populated with elves, trolls, mermaids, centaurs, fauns, gnomes, goblins and other mythical creatures, Tom Holland and Chris Pratt play teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, who embark on a quest to discover if there is still magic in the world. Why? So they can spend a day with their father, who died when they were too young to remember him.

Prepare the tissues.

The other film coming to cinemas next year is 'Soul'.

The title has just been announced and it hits cinemas June 19, 2020 (we get 'Onward' a little earlier on March 6, 2020).

The official plot synopsis reads:

"Ever wonder where your passion, your dreams and your interests come from? What is it that makes you... YOU? The film takes you on a journey from the streets of New York City to the cosmic realms to discover the answers to life’s most important questions."

Deep.

Pete Docter - who has already directed 'Monsters Inc', 'Up' and 'Inside Out' for Pixar - helms. Dana Murray produces.

Disney Pixar also has three untitled films set to be released. One hits cinemas in 2021 and two arrive in 2022.

So plenty for animation/Disney/Pixar lovers on the way!
