The Toronto Film Festival is still in full swing and there have been a bunch of high profile films debuting.

We know how well Oscar contenders like The Descendants and Ides of March have gone down already, but a bunch more films have debuted to high praise. Joseph Gordon-Levitt/Seth Rogen starrer 50/50 is earning praise from critics, with many complimenting the tone of the film which is a true story about screenwriter Will Reiser, who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 27. The film apparently mixes the serious and comedic elements well and the performances are also being singled out for praise. Brad Pitt is also thought to be pretty much a lock for an Oscar nomination for his baseball flick, Moneyball. Jonah Hill co-stars in the film and it’s thought that Sony want to push the Superbad star for a nomination also. Action flick The Killer Elite is getting decent notices for what it is, while Drive is continuing to pick up plaudits – it’s released in America this Friday and here in Ireland the following weekend.

At the other end of the critical spectrum in Francis Ford Coppolla vampire flick, Twixt, which is getting hammered by scribes. The Hollywood Reporter calls in “embarrassingly juvenile.” Ouch.
