"I'm sure that in 1985, plutonium is available in every corner drugstore, but in 1955, it's a little hard to come by."

Actually Doc plutonium was pretty hard to come by in 1985 (and in 2016 for that matter). In fact it was so hard to come by that you needed to get involved with some Libyan terrorists to pull it off. Which brings us to perhaps the great unanswered mystery of the Back to the Future franchise. How the hell did Doc Brown manage to align himself with the Libyans?

Well an uber fan of the franchise decided to try and answer this with a trailer for a Back to the Future prequel called 1.21 Gigawatts. Be warned though that it's a lot darker than the original trilogy.

Back to the Future Prequel Trailer: 1.21 Gigawatts from Tyler Hopkins on Vimeo.

The trailer was skilfully edited together by Tyler Hopkins borrowing scenes from a handful of movies including Iron Man, My Favorite Martian, Camp Nowhere, Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead, Dennis the Menace, Zero Dark Thirty, Argo, The Sum of All Fears, Syriana, Iron Man, Dazed and Confused and Munich.

We don't know about you but if Christopher Lloyd was thirty years younger we'd totally want to see this movie get made.
