Not since The Blair Witch Project did the found-footage horror genre get a total rejuvenation until 2007 hit horror Paranormal Activity.
Made on a reported budget of $15,000, the film went on to gross an impressive $193.4 million.
Earlier this week, director Oren Peli released the original audition tapes for the movie, which show the unknown actors Micah Sloat and Katie Featherston auditioning for the movie both individually and as a pair.
Peli notes how the auditions were ‘entirely improvised’, and the results are really impressive.
Below are the longer and shorter versions of the video ‘unearthed’ by Peli (which may have been a bit of a tongue in cheek move on his part, given this is footage he found and the movie itself is based around found footage):
I found some interesting footage: PARANORMAL ACTIVITY auditions! @micahsloat & @katiedianne. Entirely improvised! https://t.co/3E2HRIdePq
