It’s reportedly the most expensive Chinese movie of all time, and with a premise like this, we have pretty high expectations.
So far, not a lot of information has been divulged about the pic story-wise, though we do know it is set in the Northern Song Dynasty, and is about the mysteries behind the construction of the Great Wall of China.

A number of elements have us excited about this one.
First, its director Zhang Yimou has a pretty great rep for making visually stunning films - his best-known being Hero and House of Flying Daggers.
Zhang also directed the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, so he knows how to put on a spectacular show.
Additionally, the film was produced by Universal Pictures, whose biggest pics have all been ‘monster’-related (think Jurassic Park, Jaws, The Mummy). The studio has been maintaining that association with the success of films like Jurassic World and Dracula Untold more recently.
Finally, there’s a great cast lined up including Damon, Willem Dafoe, Andy Lau, and Pedro Pascal.
