We've said it already and we're saying it again - War For The Planet Of The Apes is easily one of our most anticipated blockbusters of next year.
2014's Dawn was a fantastic, intelligent sci-fi with a towering performance by Andy Serkis - he really should have got an Oscar or something - as Ape leader, Caesar. This time around, both director Matt Reeves and Serkis are back, but this time it's Woody Harrelson who's leading what's left of humanity in a desperate battle against the ape nation.
It's understood that the film picks up only two months after Dawn, which you'll recall made reference to the fact that the military were on their way to San Francisco where most of the film was set. Now that Caesar and his apes have had time to dig in and build the city in their image, it's going to get a bit rough for them as Harrelson's soldiers try to reclaim the city.
What we're getting from this trailer is that the stakes are getting even higher and that the world is becoming more and more extreme, with very little in the way of respite or reprieve on both sides. In other words, it's a zero-sum game and it's either human or apes on the planet.
Take a look.
War For The Planet Of The Apes is slated for an Irish release date of July 17th, 2017, and we'll be keeping a close eye on this one.
