Doesn't it feel like we've been hearing about this movie for forever? I thought it had been released straight-to-video about 10 years ago. Anyway, not so, Gimme Shelter starring Vanessa Hudgens is getting a cinema release and the first trailer has just landed.
Actually featuring a fairly stellar cast, the film follows Vanessa's character Apple, a pregnant teenager who runs away from home to escape her cruel mom played by Rosario Dawson (which is scary because if she is old enough to play the mother of a teenager that means I am old too.)
Her rich dad (Brendan Fraser) couldn't care less about her so poor Ap finds herself in a homeless shelter.
So it's definitely a departure then, from Vanessa's most recognised role, Gabriella in High School Musical although she's already played edgy roles, most notably in Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers.
No release date has been set for Ireland yet but there's still no harm in checking out the trailer:
