Since the critical success of It Follows, Cold Comes The Night and Green Room, '80s throwback horrors are now back in vouge and - to be honest - it's no bad thing.
This was the decade that gave us John Carpenter's The Thing, Tobe Hooper's Poltergeist, Wes Craven's A Nightmare On Elm Street and countless more horror stalwarts. The Void has been getting a lot of word-of-mouth praise from its run through film festivals and, going by the first full trailer for the film, it looks like it's a callback to the decade and the genre.
For example, you've got small-town cop locked in one place, grotesque monster on the inside, weird cultists on the outside and even the font in the logo is pure Carpenter. In short, this is ticking all our particular boxes for excitement.
Take a look.
