Gather round, folks, because there's plenty of celebrity beef for everyone to chew on.
As we previously reported, the on-set animosity between Vin Diesel and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is slowly but surely beginning to reach critical levels. For those that don't know, the whole thing kicked off when Johnson posted a message on Instagram about losing the rag with some of his candy-ass co-stars.
Said candy-ass co-star was later revealed as Vin Diesel and, sure enough, Johnson struck again when he very conspicuously left Diesel off his final Instagram post on the film. Now, however, Diesel has fired back with a little bit of trivia and a lot of shade. During a recent Facebook Q&A, Diesel was asked about how Johnson came into the franchise.
"There was a girl named Jen (maybe, Jan?) Kelly who said, 'I would love to see you guys work together on-screen.' And so, we gave a role that was initially written for Tommy Lee Jones but we gave it to Dwayne, and he shined in it."
Tommy Lee Jones, by the way, has done more than his fair share of brainless action films. Under Siege, U.S. Marshals, The Fugitive, he's even in a Jason Statham SEQUEL at the minute called Mechanic: Resurrection. So, yeah, the idea of Tommy Lee Jones starring in Fast & Furious shouldn't seem outlandish in the slightest.
However, it's interesting to see how Diesel and Johnson are essentially circling one another in the press over this beef. The press tour for Fast & Furious 8 is going to be fun. Stay tuned.
