David Cronenberg’s Videodrome has become the latest film to thrown into the remake grinder. Ehren Kruger, who penned the remake to The Ring, will write and produce the film for Universal Pictures. The original starred James Woods, who played a TV station boss who has some trippy hallucinations, one of which involves him sticking his hand through his own stomach. We're not sure what direction this version will pull in, but Empire seems to think that Kruger will go much broader, making it very much a sci-fi movie, and ignoring the self-mutilation of the original. Kruger was involved with Transformers 2, and is also currently working on a remake of early Michael Mann film The Keep.
