Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski has left the game adaptation, Bio-Shock, and been replaced by 28 Weeks Later helmer, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. Verbinski apparently left the project due to "budgetary concerns" when Universal balked at the projected $200 million budget. So, this being a time of economic turbulence an all, they did what any good company does, and shifted production to a foreign land with mucho tax breaks. Verbinski was doing double duty on Bio-Shock and animated feature Rango, and couldn’t leave America whilst that was in production, so will instead remain on as producer.
