Blockbuster season has not been going as smoothly as you might have expected, with movies making money, but audiences certainly displeased with what they've been seeing. So far, the only real success of the summer has been Iron Man 2, and there were certainly people who felt it didn't hold a candle to the original (not me, by the way).

In America this past weekend. Toy Story 3 gave audiences and critics a reason to be chirpier, as it opened to a June record $109 million, and garnered a staggering 98% approval rating on critical accumulation site, Rottentomatoes.com. However, the Josh Brolin starring DC Comic adaptation, Jonah Hex, bombed, taking a paltry $5million - from a $35 million budget. The flick, which co-stars Megan Fox and Michael Fassbender, has taken a severe critical beating and wasn't expected to do well - but $5 million is still a shockingly small opening.

Get Him To The Greek, The A-Team, and (especially) The Karate Kid, have been doing well, with the latter making $106 million in just over a week of release - from a $40 million budget. Next week America braces for the launch of the Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz starrer, Knight and Day.
