This week sees the release of Justin & The Knights Of Valour (review HERE), and while the film is filled with guys with swords and men in suits of armour, the real ass kicker in the movie is Talia, voiced by Saoirse Ronan, who guys around beating up men many times her size, and more capable of taking care of herself than most of any one else in the movie.
This got us thinking of some other animated ladies who were able to take care of business when the time came for it, and here are our top five!
5. Rapunzel in TANGLED (2010)
Having been trapped up a tower for years and years, Rapunzel had seemingly spent all that time learning some kind of hair-fu, using her creepily long locks to her advantage. In any other movie, she would've been some sort of comic book super villain.
4. Princess Fiona in SHREK (2001)
Another lady who has been stuck up a tower for a number of years, but with no long hair to work with, Princess Fiona lets her feet do the talking. When she and Shrek run into Robin Hood in the woods, she ends up kicking several shades of ... stuff out of him and his band of not merry anymore men.
3. O-Ren Ishii in KILL BILL: VOL 1 (2003)
A slight cheat perhaps, but when you think of women who can inflict pain in animated form, you can't not think of O-Ren Ishii. Whether it's cutting the man who killed her parents in half, or performing assassinations in a full body red leather cat-suit, O-Ren is not be messed with!
2. Mulan in MULAN (1998)
When she's convinced that her father will die if he joins the army for an upcoming battle, she disguises herself and takes his place, becoming one of the country's greatest heroes in the process. It helps that she had her own pet dragon to assist her, but the fact that it was voiced by Eddie Murphy probably didn't.
1. Helen Parr / Elastigirl in THE INCREDIBLES (2004)
She was one of the world's greatest superheroes, but when being a superhero was made illegal, she made the transition into loving mother, wife and home-maker. However, when her family is threatened, she doesn't give a second thought to putting on the skin-tight costume in order to save the day again. A woman's work is truly never done!
