Tom Cruise, that forgotten prince of the box office, is sniffing around for a new project. Cruise hasn't been all the prolific of late, most recently starring alongside Cameron Diaz in the box office bomb that was Knight and Day. Deadline has released information which states that Cruise might team up with Joe Kosinski on a project called Oblivion, a long-term pet project of the Tron: Legacy director. Oblivion is high-concept futuristic fare, a love story set in (or around) a post-apocalyptic planet earth in which most humans now live in cities in the clouds. But, of course, there are still aliens roaming around on the planet surface. Then a spaceship crashes and, well.... you've seen movies like this before. It remains to be seen whether or not this will be the project to breathe new life into Cruise's flagging career but we here at Entertainement.ie towers don't think so. Cruise is BADLY in need of a hit and if Oblivion goes the way of Knight and Day before it, he'll only have the fourth instalment of the Mission: Impossible franchise to fall back on.
