If you saw the last Pirates of the Caribbean film, then you can testify to its complete and utter inanity. But Hollywood doesn't care, because it brought in the clams so another one is being rushed towards production.
Rob Marshall was the man tasked with bringing the last one to cinema screens, but he apparently hasn't agreed to direct again yet causing Disney to weigh up their options. Those options apparently include, Tim Burton, Sam Raimi, Shawn Levy, Chris Weitz and Alfonso Cuaron. They're obviously taking the piss if they think Raimi would turn up for a franchise that died minutes into the second film, but every other name there is a possibility - even Burton who will apparently film Johnny Depp taking a crap (in 3D) if someone gave him a $150 million budget.
I could care less about this franchise unless it's even an overhaul. Then bring in someone with the quality of Raimi to change it from the ground up.
