Uh oh, we've been rooting for Saoirse Ronan this entire time but we've just got word that she WON'T be starring as Cinderella in Disney's live-action take on the movie. Relative newcomer, who appeared in a small role in Downton Abbey (Rose, the wayward teenager) Lily James will now take the lead opposite her wicked stepmother played by Cate Blanchett.
The movie will be helmed by Irish director Kenneth Branagh whose work on Thor and My Week With Marilyn you'll be familiar with.
Having spoken to Saoirse about this a while ago, it appeared as though all systems were go, especially considering the fact that she couldn't really discuss it. Usually they've no qualms in saying 'no, I'm not doing it', if they're not doing it. It was also rumoured that Emma Watson was in talks for the role but that never came to fruition. Perhaps it's a wise move on Disney's part to go for someone as fresh as Lily James. What do you think? She's certainly got the angelic look going for her.
All going well, on the back of this Miss James could well be inaugurated into the pack of classy young ladies from across the pond causing quite the storm in Hollywood.
