Why can't all awards ceremonies be like this?
The Critics' Choice Awards took place last night, and there were no less than two surprise ties for actresses.
It seems to be a long-running theme for The Critics' Choice Awards to hand out ties, with the awards ceremony having done so since its first year in 1996.
And the 2019 awards have been no different.
This year, The CCA's saw Amy Adams pick up the award for Best Actress in a Movie Made for Television or Limited Series, for her role in 'Sharp Objects.' However Adams wasn't alone on stage, as Patricia Arquette also joined her for her leading role in 'Escape at Dannemora.'

This isn't the first time Adams has tied with another actress at the Critics' Choice Awards; in 2006, Michelle Williams also received the award for Best Supporting Actress alongside her.
The pair were the first double act of the night, with the Best Actress award also resulting in a tie for two leading women.
First, Glenn Close won for 'The Wife' and waited patiently on stage until Willem Defoe read out who the second winner in the category was. An emotional Lady Gaga bagged the second award for 'A Star Is Born,' saying "My mother and Glenn are good friends. So I'm so happy that you won this this evening."
The singer and actress made a very powerful acceptance speech.
The winning pair also took a picture together with their awards.

2019 isn't the first year that two ties have occurred at the Critics' Choice Awards. Back in 1996, Ed Harris and Kevin Spacey tied for Best Actor; while Joan Allen tied with Kathy Bates for Best Supporting Actress.
