Steven Soderbergh's new crime thriller will land on Netflix in October
The trailer for Steven Soderbergh's new film 'The Laundromat' has been revealed, and by all accounts, it looks like the kind of investigative crime flick that the director excels at.
Based on Jake Bernstein’s book 'Secrecy World: Inside the Panama Papers Investigation of Illicit Money Networks and the Global Elite', it stars Meryl Streep as a widow who begins investigating the infamous Panama Papers scandal - an insurance-fraud racket that the world's super-rich population worked to their benefit.
A woman taking on corrupt powerful organisations? The parallels with another Soderbergh film, 'Erin Brockovich', are obvious - although the trailer for this certainly suggests that it's more stylised and perhaps lighthearted.
It also features Gary Oldman, Antonio Banderas, James Cromwell and David Schwimmer amongst its star-studded cast, and will land on Netflix on October 18th, after a cinema run that begins on September 27th.
It's Soderbergh's second Netflix film, following last year's 'High Flying Bird'.
