A prequel to horror classic The Thing has been greenlit by Universal Pictures, with ad director Matthijs Van Heijningen calling the shots on a Ronald D. Moore script. Moore is the man responsible for the huge cult success of Battlestar Galactica, after he "reimaged" the series for the Sci-Fi Network to much small screen success. An actual remake of the John Carpenter classic (which is already a remake) version of The Thing was due to go ahead, funded by the Sci-Fi Network, and directed by Frank Darabont, but the plug was pulled at the last minute. Heijningen has directed a bucket load of ads, including campaigns for Pepsi Max, Land Rover and Stella Artois.
