The character's re-design has meant that the planned December 2019 release has been changed
Well, this was rather inevitable.
When the first trailer for the new 'Sonic the Hedgehog' movie dropped three weeks ago, there was an instant backlash from fans who weren't happy with how the little blue fella looked.
As a result, director Jeff Fowles announced that they had listened to the criticism and were re-designing the character.
Of course, not only does this mean that it's going to cost the studio more money, but inevitably it means that the film's release will be delayed.
That's now been confirmed; while 'Sonic the Hedgehog' was initially scheduled for a December 2019 release, it's now been pushed back - but not too far - until February 14th, 2020.
Fowles updated fans via Twitter:
