The Rock will team up with Shane Black for what could be a new franchise.
Black had talked about his version of Doc Savage for years, and was recently yapping about possibilities while doing press for his ace new flick, The Nice Guys. While Black will first direct the Predator reboot/sequel/fuck knows, Doc Savage will kick into gear after.
Doc Savage is an adventurer who became popular through a series of comics in the 30s and 40s and then later in novels.
Johnson has closed a deal to play Savage and will produce the film along with Fast and Furious exec, Neal H. Moritz.
Black is one of the best screenwriters in Hollywood and has been for some time. He's also an extremely promising director, with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3 and The Nice Guys all scoring stellar reviews.
