While speculation has been rife for months now as to who will take over the role of James Bond from Daniel Craig, the discussion as to who will be calling the shots from behind the camera has also kicked into gear since Sam Mendes announced that he was finished with the franchise.
Radio Times are reporting that Susanne Bier, who directed the excellent The Night Manager, is on the shortlist of directors for the next Bond movie. If she is chosen for the job then she'll become the first ever woman to direct a Bond movie.
It could also mean the next Bond film would be a 'Night Manager' reunion as leading man Tom Hiddleston is currently the bookies favourite to be named the next Bond.
Aside from her work on The Night Manager, Bier has been celebrated for her feature film work in her native Denmark. She won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language film for In a Better World in 2011. Should Bier get the job she'll also only be the second Oscar winning filmmaker to helm a Bond movie after Mendes.
