Here's your first look at Ariel
Disney has a whole bunch of live-action remakes on their way to you. 'The Little Mermaid' is among their most highly anticipated.
The animated 'The Little Mermaid' hit cinemas back in 1989 and was a major commercial and critical success for the House of Mouse.
The pandemic meant that cameras started rolling on the remake almost a year later than intended.
But now, all of a sudden, it seems that production has wrapped.
Halle Bailey, who'll be playing Ariel, namely the little mermaid herself, in the movie revealed the news on Instagram.
She also shared what appears to be a first look at the character, even if the sunset behind her and body submerged in water means her mermaid tail is somewhat obscured.
Sardinia, Italy, was the primary shooting spot for 'The Little Mermaid'.
Bailey said she was "grateful" to see the project come to fruition.
On her social media post, she wrote: and just like that..that’s a wrap ❤️after auditioning for this film when i was 18 just about to turn 19 , to now finishing filming through a pandemic when i turned 21 ..we have finally made it...?
"i feel so grateful to have experienced this film in all of its glory..it has been the toughest experience being away from everything and everyone i’ve ever known, to feeling self doubt/ loneliness, but also feeling such freedom and perseverance as i’ve reached the end.
"this experience has made me so much stronger than i ever thought i could be."
She also thanked her fellow cast members, who include Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, and Daveed Diggs.
'The Little Mermaid' will feature new and original songs from composer Alan Menken with lyrics from Lin-Manuel Miranda.
It currently has no release date.
