Sci-fi classics 'Starship Troopers' and 'Mars Attacks!' are being shown on 35mm in the IFI later this month as part of the Dark Skies season.
As we previously mentioned, a 70mm screening of 'Aliens' is also taking place as part of the season and will see the month of July filled with such masterpieces like John Carpenter's 'The Thing', Philip Kaufman's 'Invasion Of The Body Snatchers' and even the B-movie 'Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers' from 1956.
Here's the full line-up:
Sat 7th - 15.30 The War of the Worlds
Sun 8th - 15.30 Attraction
Sat 14th - 18.10 Starship Troopers (35mm)
Sun 15th - 15.30 Earth vs. the Flying Saucers
Sat 21st - 20.20 Aliens (70mm)
Sun 22nd - 18.15 Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Sat 28th - 20.30 The Thing
Sun 29th - 15.30 Mars Attacks! (35mm)
As mentioned, 'Starship Troopers' - directed by Paul Verhoeven and featuring a despicably fresh-faced Casper Van Dien as Johnny Rico - is playing as part of the series in glorious 35mm print, along with Tim Burton's wacky sci-fi caper 'Mars Attacks!' also in glorious 35mm print.
Tickets are nearly sold out for 'Aliens' in 70mm and you can pick up tickets for all these at the box office or at ifi.ie, and you can get a multipass for the whole season for €35.
