The Dark Knight continued to break records on its second weekend of release in America, where it crossed the $300 million mark in record time. The film coined an estimated $75.6 million, to take its toll to a record shattering $312 million in ten days. Industry insiders are saying it has a strong chance of breaking $500 million domestically - which no film has done since Titanic. Elsewhere, Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly comedy Step Brothers opened in second with a solid $30 million plus gross; while The X-Files: I Want to Believe opened tamely with $10.2 million in fourth. The X-Files sequel had the smallest budget of any film in the top ten, with $29 million, and should still turn a notable profit when all is said and done.
