"I'm vengeance."
If you had any doubts about Robert Pattinson be a convincing Batman, this two-and-a-half-minute teaser should give you some idea of what to expect.
From the very opening frames, what's clear is that Matt Reeves seems to be going in a much more cerebral direction than one might have expected. The scrawled writing and the ever-present rain had initial reactions comparing it to something like David Fincher's 'Se7en', while the first glimpses of Paul Dano's Riddler looked more like a serial killer than a green-suited supervillain from 'Batman Forever'.
Not only that, Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne / Batman looks far moodier and disturbed than really has ever been seen on screen before. The choice of music, for example, is Nirvana's 'Something In The Way'. You also get a glimpse of Zoe Kravitz' Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Oswald 'The Penguin' Cobblepot, and you even hear Andy Serkis as Alfred talking too.
We'll do a much deeper dive into it later today, but for now, take a look at this. 'The Batman' is scheduled for release on October 1st, 2021. No rating has been officially confirmed as of yet.
