Heroes in a half shell, turtle power!
It seems that the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' franchise isn't going away anytime soon. It's heading for the big screen yet again.
Originally a comic book series created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' have made for a hugely successful toy line and have been brought to the big and small screen numerous times.
The first animated TV series based on the 'TMNT' ran from 1987 to 1996.
Later Nickelodeon acquired the global rights to 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles', producing a popular CGI-animated series on the characters from 2012 to 2017.
The network also made a 2D animated series based on the franchise that ran between 2018 and 2020.
Now Nickelodeon is rebooting the franchise once again in 3D. Only this time, it's headed for the big screen.
Seth Rogen is producing through his Point Grey Pictures production banner. Also producing are the banner's co-founder Evan Goldberg and president James Weaver.
Brendan O’Brien, whose credits include the Seth Rogen comedy 'Neighbours', its sequel, and 'Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates', will write the reboot.
Jeff Rowe, who co-directed and wrote the recent Netflix animated movie 'The Mitchells vs. the Machines', will helm the film.
Paramount holds the global distribution right for the reboot.
'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' have appeared in six feature films, the most well-known being the live-action 1990 one and the 2014 adaptation, produced by Michael Bay.
This latest iteration is heading to cinemas on August 11, 2023.
