Well that didn't take long, did it? Although Seth McFarlane is busy getting his next live-action film, A Million Ways To Die In The West, off the ground and into filming, they've set and confirmed a release date for Ted 2 already. Universal and McFarlane have confirmed that Ted 2 will be getting a summer release of June 26, 2015.
Seriously, how busy is Summer 2015 going to be?! You've potentially got Star Wars, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Finding Dory, Jurassic World and another Star Trek film. We wrote about it here. Throwing Ted 2 into that dogfight - or bear-fight, if you will - is a pretty ballsy move by McFarlane. He's obviously confident it can get box office results.
The Family Guy creator is currently working on A Million Ways To Die In The West, a comedy set in the American West that features Charlize Theron, Neil Patrick Harris, Liam Neeson and Amanda Seyfried. No sign of a poster or trailer for this one yet, unfortunately.
What are we thinking about Ted 2? The first one was pretty funny and you could see that McFarlane was trying his best to recreate some of the early magic of Family Guy. Unfortunately, however, Family Guy seems to be going the way of The Simpsons and beginning to outstay its welcome. Don't get us wrong, we love Family Guy and will always make time for a rerun on TV, but the newer episodes have been falling flat.
Let's hope this doesn't translate into a bad sequel to what was a pretty funny film in Ted.
