A new adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 sci-fi classic novel, Dune, is still going ahead, despite the recent departure of helmer Peter Berg. According to Variety, Paramount has signed Taken director Pierre Morel to take over the reins, after he lobbied for the gig.

The novel is still one of the biggest selling books of all time, but despite that, David Lynch's 80s effort failed to find an audience upon its initial release - but is now considered a cult classic. Story is about an "intergalactic struggle to control the supply of a valuable spice found only on the remote desert planet Arrakis." It was most recently made into a mini-series

Berg will next helm naval action film, Battleship (based on the board game) instead. Morel is currently prepping Taken 2, and has fun looking action film From Paris With Love, starring Jonathon Rhys Myers and John Travolta due in February.
