"Is it that big a deal?"
The actor-turned-creator has basically said it's not really anyone's business - and everyone's already forgotten about it.
In May of this year, paparazzi pictures of Taika Waititi snuggled up with Rita Ora and Tessa Thompson surfaced online. The 'Thor: Love and Thunder' director was currently working on the Marvel sequel down under when the pictures set the internet alight.
In case you missed the pictures of the "throuple", you can see them here.
Speaking with Cinema Blend on the matter, Waititi has made it clear that those pictures were like water off a duck's back to him. When asked if the online buzz bothered him, he responded with: "Not really. I think in the world of the internet, everything goes away pretty quick. And also, 'is it that big a deal?' No, not really. I was doing nothing wrong. It’s fine."
With the fourth Thor movie having wrapped production in Australia three weeks ago, the famed director of 'Ragnarok' and 'Jojo Rabbit' also gave an update on the sheer size of the cast involved in the making of the action film. With Natalie Portman, Melissa McCarthy, Christian Bale, Ben Falcone, Russell Crowe as well as the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' cast involved (as well as some more cameos, presumedly), this is going to be another mini 'Avengers' film.
Taika Waititi said: "It’s quite amazing, just the amount of people that we’ve got. I kept looking around, or just looking back over the shoot, and thinking, 'Oh my god…'"
Karen Gillan, who plays Thanos' firecracker daughter Nebula in the MCU films, says that the 'Thor 4' director managed to bring out the "bonkers" side of her character in the upcoming movie. She told Collider: "And then Taika really brought out the bonkers side. I think everyone is just really, really funny and bonkers and wild.
"I don’t know if it’s personal [levity]. Like I don’t think she's finding herself funny or being funny, but in her seriousness, I think we will find her funny, and just the pure aggression that we’ve tapped into."
'Thor: Love and Thunder' will hit our screens in under one year's time on May 6, 2022.
