It may have lost its directors, but the new adaptation is still happening
It's one of the most beloved video fighting games ever, and is still going strong - 37 years after first debuting in arcades around the world.
If you're old enough to remember the 1994 adaptation with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Kylie Minogue, you may be happy to hear that new movie adaptation 'Street Fighter' officially has a release date, and will hit cinemas on March 20th, 2026.
The film was first announced last year, but it was recently revealed that the Phillippou brothers - the Australian pair who had a big hit with horror film 'Talk to Me' last year - had left the project, partly due to scheduling issues.
A new director has not yet been announced, nor has the cast or any details of the plot.
It seems like spring 2026 will be a busy time for video game adaptations, however; the sequel to the hugely successful 'Super Mario Bros. Movie' will also be released just two weeks after 'Street Fighter'.
And if you're really desperate for a new 'Street Fighter' fix before then, the video game franchise is still going strong - the sixth installment of the game was released last year.
