Stephen King is known for being free and open with his opinion on how people adapt his work.

There's the oft-mentioned distaste for Stanley Kubrick's The Shining and his appreciation of Frank Darabont's The Shawshank Redemption, but the point is that if Stephen King likes something, he's not shy about saying it. So it goes with the upcoming adaptation of It from Mama director Andy Muscietti.

Seth Grahame-Smith, who's one of the producers on It, shared an e-mail sent by King's assistant last night via Instagram and was  - by all accounts - very positive about the film.

"Steve asked me to pass along that he saw a screening of IT today and wanted to let everybody know that they should stop worrying about it as the producers have done a wonderful job with the production."

Well, there you have it. If Stephen King has given it his blessing, that must be a good sign. Right? No one mention Maximum Overdrive.

It hits Irish cinemas on September 8th, 2017.
