As the countdown to Star Wars: The Force Awakens continues, we're seeing scraps of information here and there leak out.

JJ Abrams, known for his on-set secrecy, has already addressed the leaks and rumours by floating the idea of releasing it sooner rather than later. We don't think that's a goer, mainly because this summer's big release - Avengers: Age of Ultron - is also a Disney property, so we can't see them pitting their two tentpoles against one another.

If, however, he'd like to screen it to press in advance (COUGH), we'd be more than delighted to sit in on that one.

Although the main cast was announced at the end of last year, we've got confirmed reports that frequent Abrams' collaborator Greg Grunberg will have a role in The Force Awakens. Speaking in a recent interview, Grunberg confirmed his involvement and said that he was on-set in London to film his part. For those that don't know, Grunberg is considered to be Abrams' lucky charm, and has been cast in a small role in almost all of Abrams' films, including Mission: Impossible 3 and the first Star Trek reboot. He was Kirk's step-dad, FYI.

As for the eagerly-awaited reboot of videogame Battlefront, there's been developments there too. The latest rumours surrounding it suggest that there'll be a stage in the videogame that takes place before the opening credits of The Force Awakens. The game itself will be almost entirely set in the original trilogy and some time between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. It's understood that Lucasfilm has plans for that area. Our guess is that the spin-off movies will be set in that time period and act as a lead-in to the new trilogy.

You'll also be able to control characters from the new film in Battlefront, with EA / DICE receiving exclusive access to the set in Pinewood to take scans of ships, characters and items from the film. Space-to-land battles are also believed to play a large part in Battlefront, with planets such as Hoth (the ice planet), Tatooine (the desert planet) and even Coruscant (the city planet) getting a look in as well.

As for when a new trailer will land, there's no fixed date yet. Our best guess is that it'll be attached to Age of Ultron, if not some time sooner.

In the meantime, we can only wait and hope...
