Spiderman and Evil Dead helmer Sam Raimi is reportedly planning a "massive alien invasion movie."
According to New York Magazine, the film is called EDF, and will be produced by Raimi and District 9's Bill Block - both men are currently "deep in negotiations" with funding studio Warner Bros. Raimi will apparently not helm the project, about Earth Defence Forces who must defend the planet in the midst of an invasion, and it has instead gone out to possible directors for consideration. The source, who have read the script, describe it as a mixture of Independence Day and Top Gun. Eh, wasn't that just Independence Day?
Anyhow, it's apparently epic in scale, so expect some decent directors to become attached soon.
