The Amazing Spider-Man is off to a great start at the American box-office.
According to Deadline.com, the Andrew Garfield/Emma Stone starring reboot coined a very strong $35 million yesterday, to give it the highest ever Tuesday opening - besting the first Transformers movie from a few years ago. More crucially, it received an A- cinema score from movie goers; this means word-of-mouth is a given, and it should show strong legs over the coming weeks. It's also July 4th in America today - a typically huge day at the box-office, so expect those numbers to grow.
Marc Webb's second feature is receiving generally positive reviews, but not glowing. That said, it's as fan friendly as they come and seems to be hitting that younger audience dead-on - exactly what Sony hoped for.
