Despite being directed by a talented Irishman John Moore (we dug Behind Enemy Lines) the last Die Hard died on its arse at the box office - mostly on account of being absolutely shite. But there could yet be a saviour...
It’s fair to say that since Die Hard with a Vengeance the franchise has been moving in somewhat of a fantastical direction - blowing up choppers with police cars and the like. Die Hard 4.0 was still an entertaining watch, just not reeeeally a Die Hard film. Then Live Free or Die Hard came out and made it look like The bleedin’ Raid.
Fear not, dear reader, as Samuel L. Jackson may be reprising his brilliant role from the third film, and once again teaming up with everyone’s favourite bald, belligerent New York flatfoot. The chemistry between Jackson and Bruce Willis was a huge part of what made ‘Vengeance’ such a blast.
How awesome was it? This awesome
It’s very much in the early stages, but it would make sense for the reported last flick to go down this route and actually be good. While they’re at it, go hire Gareth Evans (The Raid flicks) to direct it.
Ah go waaaan.
