Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz are set to return
Good news if you're a fan of the 'Shrek' films - there's a new installment officially in the works.
Following years of rumours and speculation, DreamWorks have confirmed that 'Shrek 5' will be released in 2026.
Mike Myers is set to reprise his role as the voice of the beloved green ogre, while Eddie Murphy will return as Donkey and Cameron Diaz as Fiona. It's not yet know whether Antonio Banderas will return as Puss in Boots. Walt Dohrn, who was a writer on the second and third films, will direct.
The last film in the series was 'Shrek Forever After' in 2010, so it's been quite a while since we've last heard from the franchise.

Murphy had previously let the cat out of the bag by revealing that a fifth 'Shrek' film was in the works last month, but now it has been confirmed by DreamWorks.
"We started doing it months ago," he said in an interview last month. "I did this. I recorded the first act, and we’ll be doing it this year, we’ll finish it up. ‘Shrek’ is coming out and Donkey’s gonna have his own movie. We’re gonna do Donkey as well. So we’re gonna do a ‘Shrek,’ and we’re doing a Donkey [movie]."
The first 'Shrek' film was released in 2001 and became the biggest hit that DreamWorks had had at that point, also making history as the first winner of the Best Animated Feature Oscar.
'Shrek 5' will hit cinemas on July 1st, 2026.
