DreamWorks have not officially announced the sequel
'Shrek' has been an enormously successful franchise for DreamWorks, and news of a fifth film is undoubtedly a big deal.
However, it looks like the announcement of the big green ogre's fifth installment has been prematurely leaked in a fairly embarrassing manner for the studio.
According to a screengrab of an LinkedIn CV that belongs to an intern who worked at NBCUniversal - the parent company of DreamWorks - 'Shrek 5' is in the works and set for release in 2025. The intern, who said she worked on 'consumer product ideas' for the film, has since removed mention of the film.
Although DreamWorks have not confirmed the news, it's safe to say that they have not been shy about teasing a fifth film in recent years, including in the final scene of last year's 'Puss in Boots: The Last Wish'. DreamWorks even used a scene from 'Shrek' in a recent social media promo for the new 'Trolls' film, which you can see below.
The last 'Shrek' film, 'Shrek Forever After', was released in 2010 - so fans are definitely due a new installment.
