A rake of names are apparently up for directing the new Conan The Barbarian movie; as rights holders Nu Image search high and (mostly) low to find a suitable helmer. Brett Ratner had his obligatory meeting; while the likes of Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later), Neil Marshall (Doomsday) and James McTeigue (V for Vendetta) were all mentioned as contenders alongside bottom feeding siblings, The Strause Brothers (Alien Vs Predator: Requiem). Nu Image are not a big studio and only recently started funding semi-decent productions like Rambo - hence the lack of A-list names being mooted. They did apparently court (the always in demand) Robert Rodriguez, but he was too busy hence the aforementioned mooting of anyone who's ever handled a megaphone.
