Sex and the City 2 has been given a start date for filming and another date for release. According to Variety, cameras will start rolling in the next few months, while the film will be released globally on May 28th. The first flick coined a huge $414 million worldwide, making a sequel inevitable. Where exactly they'll go with the characters is anyone's guess, as the novelty for some of seeing their idols on the big screen will have worn off by now. The first one had its moments, but ultimately lacked the charm and sharp writing of the series, and did not stand up well to repeate viewings. How could they conceivably take these characters in another satisfactory and worthwhile direction? Someone dies? Too much. Big cheats? So what. I liked the series, but this film feels like it is being made for the sake of it.
