Martin Scorsese has just announced his next picture, and it's one that has attracted a seriously meaty cast. Oscar winners Daniel Day-Lewis and Benicio Del Toro will star in Silence, a drama set in the 1600's, centering on two Jesuit priest's who go to Japan to find one of their mates, and preach about Christianity and whatnot while they're there. Needless to say, this makes the natives somewhat restless, and it all kicks off from there. Scorsese last worked with Day-Lewis on Gangs of New York, and had previously directed the Wicklow based thespian on Age of Innocence; while this would be his first time pointing the megaphone at Del Toro. Graham King, who has produced Scorsese's last three films, will be providing all of the funding for this, without studio assistance.
