Filming on the project is underway in Spain
There's another Wes Anderson movie to look forward to (if 'The French Dispatch' ever gets released).
Scarlett Johansson will make her live-action Wes Anderson debut in his latest film, which is already filming in Spain.
The 'Jojo Rabbit' actor will join other Wes Anderson newbies Margot Robbie and Tom Hanks in the untitled project. They'll be joined by the director's regular crew, including Adrien Brody, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, with Tilda Swinton and Rupert Friend also joining the party following their appearance in the director's tenth feature film 'The French Dispatch'.
While this will be Scarlett Johansson's first live-action Wes Anderson appearance, she did previously lend her voice for a minor role in his animation feature 'Isle of Dogs', playing a show dog known as Nutmeg.
The premise of Anderson's latest is currently kept under wraps ahead of 'The French Dispatch' being released this October. According to Collider however, the movie could fall under the Disney umbrella. While it's still unknown whether the project will be a Searchlight Pictures production, it could see the star working with the House of Mouse yet again.
The 'Black Widow' star is currently in the midst of a lawsuit with the company over the release of her Marvel superhero outing. She is suing Disney for breach of contract, citing that the movie was only supposed to be released in theatres before its inevitable movie to Disney+ at a much later date. Instead, it was a dual release, and a rep for Disney claimed that her lawsuit was "distressing" and "callous".
Scarlett is also expected to star in and produce another Disney project down the line, a reboot of their 'Tower of Terror', which is both a Disney Parks amusement ride and a 1997 Kirsten Dunst family film.
Before all of this, however, we have Wes Anderson's tenth feature film to look forward to. Originally due for release in August 2020, 'The French Dispatch' is now due for release on October 22, 2021. Willem Dafoe, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Timothée Chalamet, Owen Wilson, Benicio del Toro and many more will star in the comedy/drama.
