Although this might seem like it's repeating the obvious, Sam Mendes is now officially done with James Bond.
Sure, he said as much during an interview a few months ago, but this is the first official statement that's clarified it once and for all from Mendes. “I’m a storyteller,” he explained. “And at the end of the day, I want to make stories with new characters.”
Mendes went on, giving his most diplomatic take on the Tom Hiddleston / Idris Elba debacle, saying that Barbara Broccoli - the long-standing producer of the series - "decides who is going to be the next Bond, end of story."
"It's not a democracy," Mendes added.
So, with Mendes out of the picture, that pretty much guarantees that Craig is done with Bond as well. Again, there's nothing official on the topic and God knows, Craig won't shut up about how he's done with the whole thing.
The real question is, of course, is who's actually going to take on the next Bond film? And what's Sam Mendes going to do next?
