Robert DeNiro also picked up a SAG Life Achievement Award as well.
'Parasite' and 'The Crown' were the two big winners at last night's SAGs, with both winning the cast awards in their respective mediums.
As expected, Joaquin Phoenix and Reneé Zellwegger won in the leading categories, all but solidifying them both as the frontrunners for the Oscar, while Laura Dern and Brad Pitt picked up the same in the supporting categories.
Joaquin Phoenix used his speech to talk about going up against Leonardo DiCaprio when the two of them were child actors, while he implored Christian Bale to "just suck once" when he acted and praised Adam Driver and Taron Egerton's performances in 'Marriage Story' and 'Rocketman'.
Robert DeNiro, meanwhile, picked up the Life Achievement Award and talked about how he's "got another year of life insurance" on the fact that he's working with Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese on their next movie, 'Killers of the Flower Moon'. Not only that, DeNiro used his speech to praise unions and the SAG work to create pay equity for actors.
On the TV side, 'The Crown' won out for overall cast in a drama series while 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' won out for the comedy series. Delving into the individual awards, Peter Dinklage picked up the Actor (that's what the statue for the SAGs is called) for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for his work on 'Game of Thrones'.
'Parasite' became the first foreign-language movie to win Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, yet not one of the actors themselves were nominated in either the Oscars or the Golden Globes. Speaking at the dais, Song Kang-ho - who plays the father, Kim Ki-taek in 'Parasite' - explained that while the title of the movie is that, "I think the story is about coexistence and how we can all live together."
